Today, we're naming Adrian Lienhard Chief Technology Officer of Scribd, Inc.

Adrian founded our Infrastructure organization and has spent more than a decade building the systems that power our platform. His unparalleled understanding of Scribd, Inc.'s technology makes him the ideal person to lead it forward.

“I'm proud to promote an existing employee to the role. Adrian is a deeply technical software engineer and has spent ten years building the systems that make everything we do possible. There is no one better suited to lead us through the next evolution of our strategy.” – Tony Grimminck, CEO, Scribd, Inc.

About Adrian

Adrian joined Scribd, Inc. more than ten years ago as a technical lead, where he built core systems including Payments, Recommendations, and the Mobile API.

He then led the development of demand forecasting systems at Google Cloud before returning to Scribd, where he founded the company's Infrastructure organization and helped scale the broader engineering organization to its current size. Most recently, he has led Infrastructure, Payments & Billing, Identity, and Growth Engineering.

“What's happening now with agentic engineering is different from anything I've seen — we're changing how technology teams work at a fundamental level. This is the most exciting time to be a CTO, and Scribd, Inc. is uniquely positioned to capitalize on it: a strong team, foundational systems, and one of the world's largest content collections to turn AI into durable business results.” – Adrian Lienhard, Chief Technology Officer, Scribd, Inc.

What’s next

Scribd, Inc. is an AI-powered knowledge company, one whose technology is grounded in human-created content. As we continue to build intelligent tools across personalization, discovery, and content quality, Adrian's depth of experience and leadership are central to that work.

We also want to thank our outgoing Chief Product and Technology Officer, Beck Kloss, for his years of partnership and contributions to Scribd, Inc. He is moving on to a new opportunity, and we wish him well. Brad Mahaffey will serve as Acting Chief Product Officer (CPO) during our search for a permanent CPO.
